McAvan Linda (Member)

On 5 February 2008, Linda McAvan, MEP, (S&D, UK) joined the European Alzheimer’s Alliance.

In the run-up to the European Parliament elections in May 2014, Ms McAvan signed Alzheimer Europe's European Dementia Pledge, thus reaffirming her support for greater EU collaboration on dementia and her desire to remain a member of the EAA during the current term (2014-2019).

She is the Chair of the Committee on the Environment and is a substitute on the Committee on Fisheries.

In her contributions to Alzheimer Europe's campaign to make dementia a European priority she:

  • signed EP Written Declaration 27/2016 to make dementia a top priority of the EU.
  • participated in the interview with MEPs in the run up of the elections for Alzheimer Europe's 'Election Special' of its third Dementia in Europe magazine in May 2009.
  • signed EP Written Declaration 80/2008 on the priorities in the fight against Alzheimer's disease.
  • joined the European Alzheimer's Alliance in 2008 and signed the Paris Declaration.
  • signed the Glasgow Declaration on 7 April 2015.
