Gail Mountain (United Kingdom)

Gail Mountain is Professor of Applied Dementia Research and Director of the Centre for Applied Dementia Research, University of Bradford, UK.   Gail worked as an occupational therapist for over 13 years before commencing a research career.  Her clinical background has informed much of her research and in particular that which has involved collaborations with other disciplines such as engineering and design.   Most recently Gail’s work has involved projects to develop interventions to promote living well in later life including maintaining well-being while living with dementia.   She led a Medical Research Council funded trial of an occupation based intervention called Lifestyle Matters for community living older people.   She is now leading a multi-site randomised controlled trial of an intervention to promote self-management in people post dementia diagnosis
