Thomas Klie (Austria)


Thomas Klie, PhD is a lawyer and Professor for gerontology at the University of Klagenfurt (Austria) and the Protestantic University for Applied Science in Freiburg (Germany). Until 2010 he was President of the German Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics, a member organisation of the International Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics (IAGG).

His main topics in the research work in the Institute Age Society Participation Freiburg (AGP) are demographic and social changes in the modern society, elder abuse and social planning for the elderly on the municipality level. Since 2010 he is visiting Professor at the University of Namibia (UNAM) and together with Janet Ananias responsible for the project “aging in Namibia”.
