Herta Adam (European Commission)

Since April 2016 Herta ADAM is Deputy Head of Unit in the Unit "Health programme and chronic diseases" in the Directorate General for Health and Food Safety (DG Sante) of the European Commission in Luxembourg. She is in particular in charge of mental health and dementia.

She worked on health threats and crisis management before, since 2012 as Deputy Head of Unit. She joined the European Commission in 2003 and worked in education and training in Brussels.

Prior to joining the Commission she held various posts in the administration of the German Land "Saarland" and gained broad experience in health and social policy since 1985. She headed Saarland's Liaison Office/Representation to the European Union in Brussels from 1997 to 2003

Herta Adam is a sociologist with specialisation in social psychology, labour law and social security law.
