Adrian Ward (Scotland, UK)

Adrian D Ward is a recognised Scottish and international expert in adult incapacity law.  He has practised in the field for 50 years.  He has lectured and advised, and his prolific output of books and articles has been published, in many countries and languages, over more than three decades.  Throughout that period he has been continuously involved in law reform processes.  Relevant recent and current activities include as one of the principal authors and editors of “The International Protection of Adults” (Oxford University Press, 2015); member of the core research group for the Essex Autonomy Three Jurisdictions Project on compliance with the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (final report at http://autonomy.essex.ac.uk/eap-three-jurisdictions-report); and consultant to the Council of Europe conducting a review of implementation of Ministerial Recommendation (2009)11 on principles concerning powers of attorney and advance directives for incapacity.
