Giovanni B. Frisoni


Neurologist, Professor Giovanni B Frisoni - Professor of Clinical Neuroscience and Head of Memory Clinic, University Hospital of Geneva and University of Geneva, Geneva, Switzerland; Scientific Director, IRCCS Fatebenefratelli, The National Centre for Alzheimer’s Disease, Brescia, Italy - graduated in 1986 in Medicine from the University of Brescia with 110/110 cum laude, and in 1990 specialised in Neurology at the University of Parma. The thesis was published in Stroke.

Since 2013, he has been leading the Memory Clinic at the University Hospital of Geneva and has a Chair in Clinical Neuroscience at the University of Geneva. In 2013, he was appointed as Scientific Director of the Scientific Institute for Research and Care, IRCCS-FBF. Since 1999, he has also been the head of the LENITEM — Laboratory of Epidemiology Neuroimaging & Telemedicine at the IRCCSFBF, a research facility with a staff of 20 to 25. The research at the LENITEM focuses on imaging of cognitive disturbances with the tools of clinical epidemiology and aims to develop protocols for more accurate and earlier diagnosis, improve the understanding of disease pathophysiology, and translate scientific acquisitions into clinical practice.

Author of over 400 scientific papers listed in PubMed, he has been appointed Editor of the Imaging Section of Neurobiology of Aging and Editorial Board member of The Lancet Neurology, Journal of Neurology, and Alzheimer’s disease and Associated Disorders. He has served as a reviewer for the major general medicine and specialised scientific journals such as The Lancet, Brain, Annals of Neurology, The Lancet Neurology, Neurology, Biological Psychiatry. The Lancet Neurology selected his profile for his scientific and managerial achievements, dedicating an article to him, entitled “Giovanni Frisoni: an innovator with his head in the clouds” (Vol 10, July 2011).
