Clause Moraes is a Member of the European Parliament from the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament.
He currently is a Member of the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs and a Substitute on the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs.
In his contributions to Alzheimer Europe's campaign to make dementia a European priority he :
- wrote an introduction for Alzheimer Europe Dementia in Europe Yearbook 2009 that gives a comparative overview of the EU legislation relating to consent in healthcare decisions, advance directives and patients' rights issues concerning the right to information and diagnosis of people with dementia,
- participated in the interview with MEPs in the run up of the elections for Alzheimer Europe's 'Election Special' of its third Dementia in Europe magazine in May 2009,
- signed EP Writtend Declaration 80/2008 on the priorities in the fight against Alzheimer's disease,
- joined the European Alzheimer's Alliance in 2008.
