In 2007, Brian Crowley, MEP (ECR, Ireland) became one of the founding members of the European Alzheimer’s Alliance.
In the run-up to the European Parliament elections in May 2014, Mr Crowley signed Alzheimer Europe's European Dementia Pledge, thus reaffirming his support for greater EU collaboration on dementia and his desire to remain a member of the EAA during the current term (2014-2019).
Mr Crowley sits on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection Committee. He is a substitute on the Industry, Research and Energy Committee and the Legal Affairs Committee.
In his contributions to Alzheimer Europe's campaign to make dementia a European priority he:
- attended a lunch debate at the European Parliament in June 2012 which defined Alzheimer’s disease in the new European public health and research programmes.
- participated in the interview with MEPs in the run up of the elections for Alzheimer Europe's 'Election Special' of its third Dementia in Europe magazine in May 2009.
- signed EP Written Declaration 80/2008 on the priorities in the fight against Alzheimer's disease.
- signed the Paris Declaration in 2007.
