Becker Heinz (Member)


On 13 October 2011, Heinz K. Becker, MEP (EPP, Austria) joined the European Alzheimer’s Alliance.

In the run-up to the European Parliament elections in May 2014, Mr Becker signed Alzheimer Europe's European Dementia Pledge, thus reaffirming his support for greater EU collaboration on dementia and his desire to remain a member of the EAA during the current term (2014-2019).

Mr Becker sits on the Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs Committee and on the Petitions Committee. He is a substitute on the Employment and Social Affairs Committee.

Since 2001, Mr Becker has been Secretary-General of the Austrian Senior Citizens' Association (ÖSB) and a member of the Executive Committee of the European Senior Citizens' Union (ESCU) since 2005.

In his contributions to Alzheimer Europe's campaign to make dementia a European priority he:

  • participated in a lunch debate in the European Parliament in December 2016 "Comparing and benchmarking national responses to the dementia challenge"
  • signed EP Written Declaration 27/2016 to make dementia a top priority of the EU
  • hosted an AE lunch debate at the European Parliament in Brussels on 30 June 2015, on the Global Action Against Dementia.
  • signed the Glasgow Declaration on 3 March 2015.
  • attended a lunch debate at the European Parliament in February 2012 which presented the Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI) and the PharmaCog project.
  • attended Alzheimer Europe's annual conference in Vienna in October 2012.
  • attended the launch event of the "CEO Initiative" in the European Parliament in March 2013.
