Maurice O’Connell has been the Chief Executive of the Alzheimer Society of Ireland since 1999, and has been on the Board of Alzheimer Europe since 2000. He served as Honorary Secretary (2002-2004) and as Chair (2004-2010) of Alzheimer Europe.
He is presently on a number of government working groups including an expert group developing mental health policy in Ireland, and a working group on Government subventions to individuals in private care.
Maurice O’Connell has worked for non-governmental organisations for over 15 years. Prior to this time, he worked in education. He is Chair and Co-founder of a newly-formed non-governmental organisation, providing services and assisted living accommodation for people with Acquired Brain Injury.
Maurice O’Connell has a Masters in Applied Psychology.
