Maria Barcikowska is a Professor of Neurology, neurologist and neuropathologist. She is the Head of the Neurology Clinic and the Dementia Patients Department in the Hospital of the Ministry of Interior and Administration, Warsaw, Poland and the Head of Department of Neurodegenerative Diseases CNS at the Medical Research Center of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Maria Barcikowska is also the President of the Alzheimer Section of the Polish Neurological Society and the Vice-President of the Polish Alzheimer Society. She is a co-founder and a member of the Polish Alzheimer’s Association, an organisation which unites family members of AD patients. Her main fields of interest are the problems caused by neurodegenerative disorders from the level of molecular biology to the situation of caregivers of AD patients.
