Helga Rohra was born on 19 April 1953 in Hermannstadt, Romania. She completed her studies in languages and translation at the Philological Faculty in Munich and speaks English, French, German, Hungarian, Romanian and Latin. After her studies, she worked as an interpreter from 1980 to 2006. In 2007, she received a diagnosis of dementia and has been an active advocate for the rights of people with dementia ever since.
