Bart Staes is a Member of the European Parliament from the Group of the Greens/European Free Alliance.
He currently is Vice-Chairman of the Committee on Budgetary Control, and is a Substitute on the Committee on Development and the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety.
In his contributions to Alzheimer Europe's campaign to make dementia a European priority he :
- signed EP Written Declaration 80/2008 on the priorities in the fight against Alzheimer's disease,
- joined the European Alzheimer's Alliance and signed the Paris Declaration in 2008.
